Michael Buble Concert

My DH took me to the Michael Buble concert on Saturday night. Sold out Arena. WOW! He opened with Cry Me A River. It was a great show! I'm hooked on that smooth, dreamy voice.

Manly Quilts

I wanted to share a couple manly quilts with you. The green quilt is one I made. I saw a similar quilt in a magazine and recreated it using my fabric stash. I have a nephew, Eric. He knows I "sew", so he showed me his store bought bed quilt and asked if I could repair it. It was in shreds in some places and beyond repair. I said I would make him a new quilt instead. At least I know he'll use it! He turned 16 this year and I plan to give it to him next time I see him!

The rest of these quilts are ones I've seen recently at quilt shows.
My husband has been hounding me for a Cubs quilt. The baseball quilt is supposed to inspire me. The brown and cream quilt is such a manly quilt. The pattern is True Blue by Carrie Nelson for Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. I just love the colors together. And the best one I've seen is the boxer shorts. Really cute! Okay, not manly, but cute. Check out the quilting.

Ribbon Winners

Here are a couple quilts that I quilted which won ribbons. This purple one is mine and has some great feathers - which you can't see. Next time I would choose a high contrast thread color in the border.

Congratulations to Christine Williams and Barbara White!

POPQ Quilt Show

I am a member of Pride of the Prairie Quilters, a quilt guild from IL. Last weekend was our bi-annual quilt show. What fun to see so many beautiful quilts hand in one spot! I had to share a couple. Enjoy!

This was hand appliqued.

This baltimore album style quilt (With leaf and vine border) was made from wool and hand-quilted. She scavenged thrift stores to find just the right colors. Amazing!

Hey -- Remember this one? I loved quilting it. (Green bear paw)

Traditional

This traditional quilt was pieced by customer Betty Ann. She used a Lori Smith pattern. It is a scrap buster --lots of piecing.

I quilted a feathered wreath in each square, small stippling and lots of SID (stitch-in-the-ditch) in each of the pieced blocks. SID is one of the most time consuming and difficult techniques for a longarm quilter since we don't use a walking foot. It's all ruler work and a steady hand.

There is a feathered border in the dark brown, but it's hard to see in these pictures.

Black and White Quilt

A simple black and white quilt is fun and sophisticated with a floral border! This one was pieced by my customer Beth H. She made it for her daughter. It is quilted with swirls and flowers in the black border. There are some bumble bees and dragon flies quilted in too.

Spring Fever

What a fun quilt to work on, a customer quilt, pieced by Kris K. It reminded me of springtime. The prairie points and rick-rack make it so cheerful. Hope you like it too!
